His expertise spans the full transaction lifecycle, with a particular focus on optimizing deposits and streamlining supplier payments. Known for his hands-on approach to digital transformation, Matt has a proven track record of helping travel brands align their payment strategies with long-term business objectives, ensuring they remain resilient and scalable in an evolving digital landscape.

Rowland currently serves as the Global Head of Commercial for Card Issuing and IDV at Checkout.com, where he has spearheaded the company’s expansion into the issuing space since launching the proposition in early 2023. With a deep specialization in virtual card issuing for B2B payments, Rowland helps travel organizations modernize their payment flows, improve liquidity, and capture more value through bespoke card programs.

Since joining Checkout.com five years ago, he has played a pivotal role in evolving the firm's commercial strategy from acquiring into a comprehensive end-to-end payments partner. Prior to his career in fintech, Rowland spent nearly 13 years at the investment bank Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Global Equities. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Manchester.
